Well life is hard here sometimes at Orbital and I was tasked with ‘testing’ a new cruise along the beautiful Dalmatian coast in Croatia. This cruise was on a much smaller ship (18 cabins), a vintage motor-sailing ship which sails on a weekly basis (April to October) along the magnificent Dalmatian coastline and its islands.
After arriving at Split after a very early flight from Stansted, I made it through the throng of tourists in Split harbour and found my ship, the lovely Adriatic Queen. There was a real mix of nationalities on board from the USA, Bulgaria, India, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Denmark, Croatia and the UK (me!). The atmosphere on board was very informal and relaxed, amongst both the passengers and superb crew.
All you needed for this trip was a few T-shirts and a swimming costume. During the day we cruised around or between the islands at a leisurely pace, stopping for swimming and snorkelling in wonderful bays and coves. At lunchtime we indulged in a 3 course menu or buffet; the food was delicious and prepared in a very small kitchen! The evenings were left free for us to find a good restaurant or discover historical monuments in all the beautifully preserved medieval towns that dot the coastline.
