MS Darakum 12 Night Cruise - Aswan to Cairo Itinerary

DAY 1: ASWAN

Embarkation on cruise in Aswan. Music in the bar. Overnight in Aswan.

DAY 2: ASWAN

After breakfast on board, a morning visit to the High Dam in Aswan and the Temple of Isis on Philae Island. Enjoy lunch on board followed by an afternoon visit to the Nubian Museum. Return to the boat for dinner followed by a Nubian Show. Overnight in Aswan.

DAY 3: ASWAN - EDFU

Morning at leisure for those clients not taking the optional Abu Simbel trip, with a leisurely breakfast and a chance to relax on the sun deck or stroll around Aswan. After lunch sail to Kom Ombo and visit Kom Ombo Temple. Sail to Edfu. Enjoy dinner followed by the Managers Cocktail Party. Overnight at Edfu.

DAY 4: EDFU - LUXOR

An early morning start after breakfast to visit Edfu Temple, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. Return to the boat and sail to Luxor via Esna Lock. Dinner on board. Music in the bar. Overnight in Luxor.

DAY 5: LUXOR

Breakfast on board followed by a visit to the West Bank to the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut. After lunch visit the East Bank Temples of Luxor and Karnak.  Dinner on board followed by a  Belly Dancer Show. Overnight in Luxor.

DAY 6: LUXOR – QENA - NAGA HAMMADI

Early morning sailing to Qena whilst enjoying breakfast on board. After lunch on board visit the impressive Denderah Temple complex which has some of the most vibrant and colourful paintings dating from antiquity. Return to the boat and sail to Naga Hammadi, passing the bridges in Naga Hammadi. Dinner on board. Music in the bar . Overnight in Naga Hammadi.

DAY 7: NAGA HAMMADI - EL BALYANA- SOHAG

Breakfast on board whilst sailing to Balyana via Abu Homar’s bridge and lock. Visit Abydos Temple. The main monument at Abydos is the Temple of Seti I, built around 1300 BC by Seti and his son Ramses II. It is especially notable  for its fine reliefs, considered among the best of the New Kingdom. Return to the boat for lunch on board and sail to Sohag. Dinner on board followed by a Galabeya Party and Egyptian Wine Tasting. Arrive in Sohag and overnight. 

 

DAY 8: SOHAG – TEL EL AMARNA

Enjoy the beauty of the Nile whilst sailing from Sohag to Tel El Amarna via Asyut Lock. Breakfast on board. Arrive Asyut Lock. Lunch on board and begin the sailing to pass the lock to Tel El Amarna. Arrive in time to visit the Amarna Visitor Centre (at mooring point) to enjoy a presentation on Akhenaten and Nefertiti. Cookery lesson on board. Dinner on board and overnight in Tel El Amarna.

DAY 9: TEL EL AMARNA - MINYA

After breakfast visit the Tuna El Gabal and Ashmuneim. Visit the tombs at Tel El Amarna visit northern Tombs, Tomb of Ahmose, Tomb of Meryre, Tomb of Pentu, Tomb of Panehesy, the Great Palace of King Akhenaten and the small and great Temples of Aten. Return to the boat and sail to  Minya whilst enjoying lunch on board. Dinner on board followed by a Folkloric show on board. Overnight in Minya.

DAY 10: MINYA – BENI SUEF

After breakfast visit four tombs at Ben Hassan. Visit the Tomb of Baquet III, Tomb of Khety, Tomb of Amenemhet and Tomb of Khnumhotepl II. Return to the boat  and sail to Beni Suif. Lunch and dinner on board. Quiz night this evening . Arrive in Beni Suif and overnight.

DAY 11: BENI SUIF- CAIRO

Enjoy breakfast on board and a leisurely sail to Cairo arriving after lunch on board. this afternoon tour includes a visit to the Coptic section of Cairo which includes the Hanging Church, Coptic Museum, and the Jewish Synagogue. Dinner on board. Enjoy Takht (Oriental Music). Overnight in Cairo.

DAY 12: CAIRO

Enjoy breakfast onboard and then a visit to the spectacular Great Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza. After lunch on board visit the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Dinner on board, with music in bar. Overnight in Cairo.

DAY 13: CAIRO

Enjoy breakfast on board before disembarking from the cruise.

Please note: The order or content of your itinerary may be amended due to lock closures, low water levels or any other unforeseeable circumstances. Due to the increasing number of boats on the Nile, at some docking points boats are moored side by side obstructing the view from cabins. Occasionally, due to operational difficulties a change of vessel can occur. However, the sightseeing itinerary will remain the same.
